The Sun, The Race and The Wheelchair 1/9/2007

haha.. today's a super long day!
tiring, sunburnt yet fun! :)

morning went to Amazing Race on Wheels '07
at the esplanade area..
Orange 4 team! haha.. whoosh! :D
team : yx, kb n me!
though we often lost our way
running and wheeling like mad
and ending up in 7th place..

it was really fun! :)
haha.. first time singing indo national anthem
first time basking in public suddenly w no preparation..
(heal the world is always there! haha)
shocking passer-bys by suddenly standing up from the wheelchair..
acting out drama scenes at the esplanade..
going so fast tat when the wheelchair brakes
or gets caught in something, u will fly off..
eating big ice cream wafers sold by young looking kid
wheeling each other ard..
almost "beating" up a kid for misleading us.. hahahaa..
taking skyline pictures after the event..
drinking lotsa NOT SO SWEET chrysanthemum tea.. hahaa
:)

fun aside,
it was also a whole lot of experience.. :)
especially from this different perspective..

if pushing a wheelchair up a slope is tiring..
if pushing a wheelchair down underpasses and roundabouts is tiring
cos there are simply no wheelchair friendly routes to directly reach
if u simply wish u can get down n walk n carry the wheelchair down at staircases
if u tot it's a relief not to wheelchair anymore after the race..

imagine.. how it felt like if u're alone n wheeling urself everyday..
wat added determination n resourcefulness u will need..
to brave urself against all the obstacles n discomfort u face..

everyday's a challenge..
n everyday's a victory..
or a new lesson learnt..

mm.. it almost felt like i was back in phillipines..
where the carrying of rocks n gravel took tat toll on me..
n physically n mentally, u got to believe n hang in there..
it's easy to say u're tired..
but it takes additional strength to say..
i can do it some more..

on a sidenote,
was walking to n fro esplanade area n boat quay area so much
tat the places had this new feeling n familiarity it didn't hath before..
it almost became instinctive the place..
to think.. the cradle of life of singapore did always feels so foreign..

met up w jiahuan, jiahui, yuxia n yulei at clarke quay (by walking from city hall)
after eating w yx n kb at marina..
then ate (again) and brought them to marina square
via walking (again)
this time.. the boat quay area felt almost like it was just the street downstairs my home
hahaa.. can almost visualise orange 4 running n prancing down tat street
even the stalls look so unusually impressioned.. haha

walked to marina square to play arcade..
hahaa..
shooting games are actually fun w yxia, jhui!
can't believe yxia, jhui n me actually got kinda high playing it tgt! hahaa
n they got great reflex n aim.. hahaa.. beware evil doers..

oh.. SUPPER was 奢侈！
we had secret recipe for supper!
n it was sphagetti n pan fried fish n orange cheese cake
hahaha.. first time ard 1030pm go secret recipe n just sat down n ate..
hahaa...

ar.. today's so happening.. :)
memories! n really wan gou le.. :D

i can finally fang xia every tots of fun just for sunday
to focus on my fyp reading n programming outline..
